Getting There and Best Season
Top Slip is above plains of Pollachi. From Pollachi town Drive via Anaimalai – Sethumadai – forest cheque-post – Top Slip (35-40 km; 1-1.5 hours) Coimbatore to Top Slip is 95-110 km (3-3.5 hours) via Pollachi. TNSTC buses run till Sethumadai and on some schedules as far as Top Slip – find out the last return before you go. The approach road after Sethumadai is a narrow and scenic one, keep the speed low.
Weather is most pleasant from October to March when views are crisp and wildlife activity shows up well in mornings. Monsoon brings dramatic greenery but it also brings mist, leeches and sometimes closes side paths; carry a poncho and proper shoes.

- Food: A basic forest Canteen and tea stalls may be there near the campus; choices are basic. For full meals, there are a few veg messes and cafes in Anaimalai town and Pollachi.
- Water & washrooms: Carry around bottles and refill where permitted. There are washrooms adjoining the reception; cleanliness depends on busy days.
- Stays: Forest Rest Houses/ eco huts are limited at Top Slip and must be pre booked through Anamalai Tiger Reserve office/official portal. In case you don’t get those, do a day visit at Pollachi/Anaimalai. Parambikulam lodges (Kerala) require totally separate booking and permission online.

Are there frequent big cat sightings in Top Slip?
- No. Tigers and leopards live here but sightings are rare. Go for the forest, bird and peaceful drives.
Can I drive inside myself and forego the safari?
- You’ll self-drive till the campus but off road wildlife track is only accessible in department vehicles/authorised programmes.
Is Parambikulam in the Top Slip ticket?
- No. Parambikulam Tiger Reserve is in Kerala and it has its own entry gate, fees and rules. Plan it out as a separate half/full-day.
